The Aims of Hassenbrook Academy

  • To provide any young person with the opportunity to reach his/her full potential.
  • To provide an ordered working environment that will stimulate, encourage and support achievement.
  • To involve parents fully in the life of the Academy.
  • To provide regular and accurate information for parents about the progress of their children.
  • To enable all staff (teachers and support staff) to fully use their various talents and skills in the interest of the students and to provide appropriate training which will be useful to the Academy and themselves.

Our Academy Ethos

  • Hassenbrook Academy is a formal setting where all members of the community behave appropriately.
  • At Hassenbrook Academy we prepare young people for the challenges of life.
  • All members of our community are good citizens by being respectful to others and our environment.
  • We expect every member of the Academy to respect our Academy and all in it.
  • Any type of sexist, racist, homophobic language or behaviour is unacceptable in this Academy.

Our Learning Community

  • Hassenbrook Academy is a vital, happy, harmonious and highly achieving learning community at the heart of East Thurrock.
  • We believe that our community includes whole families whose children attend our Academy together with the wider community of primary schools, voluntary organisations, businesses and individuals.
  • We seek to connect and engage with these partners to develop meaningful working relationships for our mutual benefit, co-operation is the key to our success.
  • Our students are encouraged to be independent learners, who take initiative and responsibility for their   own development, by cooperating with staff and teachers to maximise the opportunity that they enjoy at the Academy.

Our Charter for Learning

  • We have the right to learn in a calm environment, to the best of our ability, respecting the rights of others to do the same.
  • We arrive on time, prepared to learn.
  • We wear correct uniform.
  • We follow instructions in a mature manner.
  • We respectfully listen to the person who is speaking.
  • We respect ourselves, others and our surroundings.
  • We work to the best of our ability at all times.

  • Don’t give up when things go wrong; mistakes help you learn.
