Curriculum Overview

Key Stage 3:

Ortu Hassenbrook Academy prides itself on providing a diverse and enriching curriculum to meet the individual needs of all pupils.  Your child will study the following subjects during their first three years at Hassenbrook Academy:

Art and Design, Religious Education, Technology, ICT(Computing) , Drama, English, Humanities (Geography, History and Citizenship), Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages: French and Spanish, Music, Physical Education and Science.


Key Stage 4: Core GCSE Curriculum for Years 10 and 11:

 English (Language and Literature, AQA), Mathematics (Edexcel), Science (Double or Triple - OCR), PE (GCSE Edexcel, BTEC or OCR National), RE (non-examined)

All Learning Pathways lead to four optional GCSEs in Media Studies (AQA), MFL: French and Spanish (both OCR), History (Edexcel), Geography (OCR), Art (Edexcel), Drama (AQA) as well as BTECs in Health & Social Care and Music. There is also a V-CERT (NCFE) in Food Preparation.

Pupils are strongly encouraged to study an EBacc Pathway. Some pupils do one option of catch up Maths and/or English in addition to three further optional subjects.
