Local Governing Body

The Governing Body of Ortu Gable Hall School is accountable in law and the Academy's Articles of Association.  It is responsible for the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards of education within a safe environment.The aim of the Governors is to use the strengths within the Trust Member Academies to raise achievement for all students and to enhance the role of member schools as resources for the community. We are passionate advocates of the power of partnership working to transform both educational and social outcomes for children for the better. Together, we have the capacity to make a difference and are morally bound to do so.

This is why our model allows member schools the autonomy to lead and manage in a way that preserves their individual identity and responds to specific community needs, while unifying them through:

  • a shared vision and shared objectives and values
  • partnership working in key areas such as leadership, professional development and sharing best practice in pedagogy
  • a relentless focus on an exceptional quality of teaching and learning systemic change and the raising of aspirations and career planning

As with all schools, Ortu Gable Hall School Governing Body is made up of representatives of the Local Authority, parents, teachers and members of the local community.

The Governors are responsible for the general direction of the school. They take decisions concerning staffing, curriculum, and finance.

The full governing body meet at least once term to discuss the needs and achievements of the school.

I am local, married with two boys, who have attended or is attending The Stanford & Corringham Schools Trust. I have worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, currently in the Business Support Office within Material Planning & Logistics Department. I have been a Governor for 13 years initially at a local Primary School, before also joining the Gable Hall School Local Governing Body in 2012. It is not the intention for governors to be shadow education professionals. However my experience of 30 years in Logistics, 17 years in team supervision & 13 years of ever changing school governance has gone a long way to equip me with the detailed understanding of the many of the disciplines within education;
 - curriculum, finance, personnel & management etc., allowing me to support the Trust in ensuring all our children & staff reach their full potential in performing their best in a rewarding, safe & happy environment.
